Solidarity with “Bread and Freedom”

Statement by the Revolutionary Socialists

As part of the ongoing strategy to impose stringent security control over political life and all public activity, the Administrative Court will review a request tomorrow to dissolve the Bread and Freedom Party. Its members still need help to complete its establishment under harsh conditions and severe security persecution targeting the party’s leadership.

We affirm our full solidarity and support for the Bread and Freedom Party comrades. We emphasize that the struggle to build independent political and social organizations free from the grip of security forces is the only way to break through the wall of tyranny that confines all forms of political and social struggle today.

The battle that the Bread and Freedom Party members are fighting today is just one part of the broader struggle of all activists striving for freedom and social justice. No ground can be gained in this fight except by organizing and unifying efforts against the authoritarian regime.

Tomorrow’s session in the Administrative Court is just one episode in the series of persecution and oppression against any serious attempt to build a resistant political organization. Regardless of its outcome, we are confident that the Bread and Freedom Party will continue its struggle to complete its establishment. In this battle, we reaffirm our unwavering support for them, both in this episode and in the episodes to come.
