No to War on Iran and Lebanon! Free Palestine!

For the second time within a single year—following the “12-Day War” in June 2025—Israel and the USA launched a military attack against Iran in late February 2026. Just like with the genocide in Gaza, Germany here is also involved in this Imperialist-Zionist aggression against Iran.

Germany’s Role in the Illegal War Waged by Israel and the USA Against Iran: A Belligerent Party or Not?

During the “12-Day War” in June 2025, Federal Chancellor Merz had claimed that Iran was the aggressor, a lie that the German government repeated many times afterwards. The German government now claims that it is not involved in the war against Iran; however, the opposite is true. Without the US Air Base Ramstein in Rhineland-Palatinate in Western Germany, US attacks on Iran could not currently be coordinated. Located by the small German city Ramstein-Miesenbach, the base serves as a central hub for US air operations. Furthermore, it houses a satellite relay station that plays a pivotal role in the command and control of unmanned drones across Western and Southwestern Asia.

Contrary to assertions by the German government, this is not a trivial technical formality: The acts of war coordinated from Ramstein not only violate international law, but they also entail questions of political and security-related liability for Germany.

Germany is, therefore, complicit in the war of aggression against Iran. Since the war began in early February (as of April 2026), over 3,636 people in Iran have been killed by US-Israeli bombs. On the very first day of this war of aggression– February 28, 2026— 156 civilians were killed by US bombs, including 120 schoolgirls in the Iranian city of Minab.

The Israeli War of Aggression Against Lebanon and the Genocide in Gaza

However, it is not only through the war against Iran—which violates international law—that the German state renders itself complicit. The Israeli war of aggression against Lebanon has killed hundreds of people in recent months. Entire villages in southern Lebanon have been razed to the ground; Beirut has been bombed, and Lebanese territory occupied. While over 100,000 Palestinians have already been murdered in the ongoing genocide in Gaza—and as Gaza continues to be bombed and occupied daily in accordance with Trump’s colonial plans—Israel is now attempting to realize the Zionist dream of a “Greater Israel.”

After the United States, Germany is the second-largest arms supplier to Israel. German weapons are being used to facilitate this Israeli project—specifically to kill Palestinians, Lebanese, and Iranians.

What Does the German Law Say Regarding the Attacks on Iran?

Article 26 of German Basic Law stipulates that Germany must not participate in acts of aggression, whether directly or indirectly. This applies not only to arms deliveries to parties at war but also to any form of logistical support provided through military infrastructure located on German territory.

Given the attacks on the Iranian civilian population, on civilian infrastructure, and on oil refineries situated near inhabited areas, we are witnessing not merely a unilateral war of aggression in violation of international law, but clear-cut war crimes committed by Israel and the United States. In the context of the so-called “Ramstein Ruling,” the Federal Constitutional Court addressed the constitutional implications regarding the U.S. airbase in Ramstein in July 2025:

The Court affirmed that Germany is obligated to take action in instances where other states commit systematic violations of international law. This means: The Federal Government must, as a matter of principle, prohibit acts of aggression from its own territory that violate international law.

What are the consequences of the German Government’s unlawful stance for the civilian population in Germany?

Through indirect payments, Germany covers approximately 40% of the stationing costs for the use of the US airbase at Ramstein. This costs German taxpayers up to 80 million euros annually. Civilians in Germany will feel the consequences of the ill-conceived war, waged by Israel and the USA in violation of international law, directly in their wallets, entirely irrespective of Germany’s own involvement in the conflict: due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, oil prices are skyrocketing.

This impact extends beyond merely driving up gasoline prices. Germany secures a large portion of its energy supply through imports. Increases in heating and electricity costs, a resurgence of inflation, and rising food prices—all economic repercussions of this war of aggression—are inevitable. Job losses, coupled with further cuts to social infrastructure, will be felt most immediately and acutely by those who already live under precarious conditions due to unemployment, inability to work, low income, or asylum status.

Genocide in Gaza, Wars of Aggression Against Iran and Lebanon: The Context of Germany’s Militarization

Germany is not merely a key arms supplier to Israel. Between 2023 and 2025, Germany imported Israeli weapon systems worth 6.7 billion euros. By procuring the Israeli “Iron Dome” air defense system (Arrow), Germany aims to enhance its own war-fighting capabilities. Through these purchases, Germany not only sustains Israel’s war economy but also, in the process, finances the largest arms export deal in Israel’s history!

This ongoing militarization can be felt in every sphere of life throughout Germany. For instance, Volks Wagen Osnabrück soon intends to stop manufacturing car parts and instead produce components for Israel’s missile defense system. Similarly, starting in the summer of 2026, the Rheinmetall subsidiary Pierburg company will cease producing automotive components at its Berlin-Wedding facility, shifting instead to the production of ammunition components. Simultaneously, conscription serves to turn the youth in Germany into cannon fodder for the profits of these corporations. While funds are being cut from public transport, schools, healthcare, housing, and universities, these major corporations are raking in billions in profits.

The attacks by the USA and Israel on Lebanon and Iran, as well as the genocide in Gaza, demonstrate that imperialist aggression endangers the entire region and results in the daily murder of countless people across West Asia. US-Israeli imperialism destroys and displaces entire populations. Germany is making itself a political, ideological, and military accomplice in these crimes.

Therefore we must demand:

An arms embargo against Israel—now! The immediate closure of Ramstein Air Base! No complicity in the murderous wars waged by the USA and Israel!

The people of Palestine, Lebanon, and Iran have the right to determine their own future, free from US-Israeli bombardment! Put an end to the policy of sanctions!

US bases out of West Asia! Yankees out!

The immediate reconstruction of Gaza! No to Trump’s colonial plan! Put the warmongers in Washington, Berlin, and Tel Aviv on trial! End the ongoing genocide! Uphold the right of return for Palestinians!

A transition from military to civilian infrastructure! No NATO rearmament. Instead, funds must be invested in public transport, schools, and healthcare!

Freedom for Palestine! Hands off Lebanon! Hands off Iran!
