Victory to the Iranian people: Down with the American-Zionist aggression

Statement by Revolutionary Socialists

The Revolutionary Socialists Movement condemns the U.S.–Zionist aggression against Iran. This dirty war has been in preparation for months, and it does not target only the Iranian regime, but the Iranian people as a whole. It cannot be separated from the war waged by the Zionist entity against Gaza and Lebanon, nor from the intermittent military operations it has carried out in Yemen and Syria, all amid coordination and approval from certain allied Arab regimes that participate alongside the United States and the Zionists in the so-called “Peace Council” led by Trump.

Our solidarity is directed first and foremost to the Iranian masses who will bear the cost of this aggression—masses already suffering from economic hardship and social crises, and engaged in legitimate struggles for social justice and freedoms. Israel and the United States have sought to exploit these conditions to advance their imperialist plans. Yet the fulfillment of the Iranian people’s legitimate demands cannot come through external intervention, but through an independent struggle led by the masses themselves. The current U.S.–Israeli aggression is part of an effort to impose domination and reshape the region in service of the U.S.–Zionist project. The same states waging this aggression are those that support wars and massacres and provide cover for repressive policies in multiple contexts.

We affirm our support for the Iranian people’s right to resist any external attack, and we reject attempts by imperialist powers to manipulate legitimate popular protests by sectors of the Iranian people in pursuit of their own agendas. Opposition to imperialism and Zionism constitutes common ground for liberation forces across the region. This stance does not contradict support for social and political rights within each country. Peoples are capable of combining resistance to external aggression with the struggle against capitalism and dictatorship.

As we reject this aggression, we call on progressive forces around the world to strengthen practical solidarity with the Iranian people and the peoples of the region in confronting imperialist and Zionist projects, and to work toward a future founded on popular sovereignty and social justice.
