June 13, 2025Strikes on Iran, a Siege on Rafah, and Gulf Coordination: Who Will Deter Israel?

Statement by the Revolutionary Socialists
The Revolutionary Socialists Movement condemns the Israeli strikes on Iran carried out this morning, which coincide with the ongoing genocidal war on Gaza, the escalating settler violence in the West Bank, repeated Zionist attacks on Yemen and Lebanon, and Israel’s continued expansion into southern Syria. This wave of Israeli aggression—sweeping across the entire region from the Atlantic to the Gulf—could never have taken place without the complicity and inaction of official Arab regimes. These regimes, which unleash their might solely against their own people, have come to symbolize a shameful era in the history of authoritarian rule.
Why should Israel feel restrained? Why would it need to hold back? The Zionist entity thrives under the patronage of our regimes.
Israel is fortunate to have the Jordanian regime, which, after suppressing massive protests around the American embassy, turned its focus to protecting Israeli airspace by intercepting Iranian drones and missiles headed toward Tel Aviv.
Israel is fortunate to have the Egyptian regime, which has closed the Rafah crossing and is holding over 150 individuals—including three children—for peacefully participating in solidarity activities with the Palestinian people. It is now blocking international solidarity convoys from reaching Rafah under the pretexts of sovereignty and averting chaos.
Israel is fortunate to have the Syrian regime, which is currently seeking to curry favor with Trump and appease Gulf monarchs—going so far, according to recent leaks, as to offer normalization and peace with the Zionist entity.
Israel is also fortunate to have forged a strong alliance with the Gulf regimes, which have not only normalized relations with Tel Aviv but have opened their airspace to Israeli aircraft and mobilized their media outlets to attack the resistance and promote the Zionist narrative.
Several Gulf capitals have effectively become operational hubs for security and military coordination with Israel. Meanwhile, anti-normalization activists are being imprisoned, and any free voice expressing solidarity with Palestine is suppressed.
We oppose the Iranian regime for its repression of its people and its regional ambitions. However, we categorically reject any alignment with Israel and its agents—under any circumstances, at any time, and in any form.
