Unconditionally with the Palestinian Resistance: Let Us Struggle to Overthrow the Zionist Project and Its Supporters Among the Ruling Classes in Our Region

Statement by the Revolutionary Socialists

Once again, the Zionist entity is waging a brutal assault on Gaza, using its warplanes and today regaining control over the Netzarim Axis in the middle of the Strip, committing massacre after massacre. Its aircraft continue to bomb Syria, while in the southern Red Sea, the American navy strikes Yemeni territory, causing dozens of innocent casualties. In the West Bank, the machinery of settlement expansion, raids on refugee camps, and the assassination of resistance fighters persist in collusion and coordination with the client authority of Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen).

These savage aggressions occur within a new, tricky international and regional balance of power, marked by the notable rise of right-wing forces in the United States and Europe. This has reinforced the most right-wing government in the history of the Zionist entity and its racist policies. The United States, along with some European governments, has even abandoned its previous formal political rhetoric that regarded Gaza and the West Bank as occupied territories. It also appears they have discarded mainly the so-called “two-state solution.”

On the regional level, there is a clear decline in the “Axis of Resistance” following several key developments: the significant blow dealt by Israel to Hezbollah, the regime change in Syria, and the ongoing sectarian-tinged tensions within Syria and along the Lebanese border, which add further complexity. In addition, there has been a clear retreat of popular movements supporting the Palestinian cause in the surrounding Arab countries under the tight security grip of regimes that care only about maintaining their rule. These regimes have played crucial roles in serving Israeli and American imperialist interests, aiming to liquidate the Palestinian cause by leaving the Palestinian people to endure siege and starvation for over a year and three months. They had hoped for the elimination of Hamas, counting on Israel’s ability to accomplish this quickly.

However, the steadfastness of the Palestinian resistance has unsettled their calculations, and some have realized that the displacement of Palestinians into their countries could have security repercussions that may shake the fragile stability of their regimes. Hence, they timidly rejected Trump’s plans to deport the people of Gaza and instead proposed alternative plans, hoping they could control the Palestinian resistance without resorting to displacement. Yet, the latest assault has revealed the sharp differences between the Israeli-American plans on one hand and the plans of their allied Arab regimes on the other.

This moment is undoubtedly difficult and painful. However, we must not forget that people have the power to change these balances of power, especially in the Arab region, ruled by dictatorial, repressive regimes that are, at the same time, weak and fragile. The fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime is not far off. Moreover, the demonstrations in solidarity with Palestine across Europe and the United States play an essential role in politicizing broader segments of youth who reject their governments’ imperialist policies and the capitalist corporations backing the Zionist entity.

The images of massacres against the defenseless Palestinian people are heartbreaking, but they are also revealing. They shatter the illusions of the two-state solution and the Oslo Authority and bring to the forefront the necessity of struggle and revolution in the Arab capitals to achieve the liberation of the Palestinian people—an objective that cannot be realized without toppling those oppressive ruling regimes. Arab despotism and Zionism are two sides of the same coin. The struggle for political and social freedoms in Cairo and across the region’s capitals is an essential part of the path toward the liberation of Jerusalem.
