Let us form a popular front to confront displacement schemes and support the Palestinian struggle

Statement by the Revolutionary Socialists

Yesterday, U.S. President Trump brazenly issued a statement ordering Egypt and Jordan to accept the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza to their territories under the pretext of “cleaning up this area.”

This shameless and arrogant declaration, made without any attempt at subtlety, reflects the imperial mindset that seeks to ethnically cleanse an entire geographical area of its 2.5 million inhabitants. This demand, or instead, command, is not new. Since the beginning of the Zionist genocide against Gaza, Biden has made similar demands. The United States is not merely a supporter of the Zionist entity but is the true architect and leader of this criminal war.

By Biden’s orders, the genocide continued for nearly a year and a half, supported by an unprecedented $30 billion in weapons, military supplies, and economic aid, alongside diplomatic protection in the UN Security Council. Trump, in turn, ordered Netanyahu to accept a ceasefire in Gaza, but his motives were transactional, aiming only to secure a “better deal” for the Zionists. Trump is not just a major recipient of support from the Zionist lobby—he has personally received approximately $100 million from Zionist businesswoman Miriam Adelson to implement the annexation plan in the West Bank.

In this statement, Trump explicitly reveals his intentions, treating Egypt and Jordan not as sovereign states but as subordinates. One country is ruled by “his favorite dictator.” At the same time, the other is governed by a foolish king who once boasted about military drills with mannequins, even as Gaza was being annihilated. Homes were destroyed over the heads of their residents.

This command by Trump confronts us with a serious and fundamental challenge. As the people of this region, we must either rise and declare that we will never allow such schemes to succeed or submit to being crushed under the will of America and its local agents. Predictably, there are calls for rallying behind the state and its “wise leadership” to confront these challenges. These calls deliberately ignore President Sisi’s record since taking power, including his acceptance of the Deal of the Century and his proposal to displace the people of Gaza to the Negev Desert. The Americans and Gulf rulers know well that Egypt’s political decisions can be bought with money. After the massive loans used to fund Sisi’s
illusory projects, the “wise leadership” had no options left but to beg for more loans, sell national assets, and privatize resources, leading to the impoverishment of millions of Egyptians. Thus, the price of the Egyptian regime—just as the popular saying goes—is well-known, and its response is predictable.

While Sisi’s government claims to reject displacement, as stated in the recent Foreign Ministry statement, this is the same regime that sold Tiran and Sanafir Islands and blockaded Gaza for 15 months during the
genocide. Recent statistics reveal that Egyptian companies have increased exports to Israel this year, while those who protested in solidarity with Palestine and against displacement have been arrested. If the regime’s stance toward its arrogant American ally’s imperialist plans is to be genuine, it must act rather than merely speak. It must provide caravans to Palestinians without exorbitant costs, release those detained for their support of Palestine, join South Africa’s lawsuit against the Zionist entity, annul the Camp David Accords, and halt all forms of normalization with the Zionist enemy.

We have no choice but to decisively reject this decision through popular action.

We must reignite solidarity movements for Palestine within our unions, universities, and workplaces. The battle is not over despite the announcement of a ceasefire. We must learn from the resilient people of
Gaza, who have defied all restrictions. As soon as the ceasefire was declared, hundreds of thousands surged toward the Nitzarim axis in a courageous attempt to return to the northern parts of the Strip. With the same determination after the Lebanon truce ended yesterday, and despite the enemy army’s refusal to withdraw, the residents of the south returned to their villages and lands, defying the Zionist killing machine with unyielding courage and resolve.

Today, we witness the majestic sight of return marches, with hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians using the simplest means to march northward. This scene embodies legendary steadfastness against the arrogance of the Americans, the crimes of the Zionists, and the complicity of their regional allies.

There is no alternative but mass widespread rejection and the establishment of broad coalitions capable of standing against American arrogance, which foolishly assumes it controls our destiny.
