Standing with the Resistance, Now More than Ever

Statement by the Revolutionary Socialists

In recent days, the Zionist enemy has launched hundreds of airstrikes on Beirut and other Lebanese cities, following a string of terrorist operations, including the assassination of Hezbollah leaders through air raids and the bombing of communication devices. These attacks have caused tremendous material damage and heavy civilian casualties in Lebanon. Meanwhile, the genocide in Gaza continues, the invasions of the West Bank persist, the destruction of Arab villages in the occupied Negev goes on, and the Egyptian government remains complicit.
As we approach the first anniversary of the war’s outbreak, we are reminded of how the Egyptian regime closed the Rafah crossing, letting the Zionist enemy control who could come and go. It turned the survival of Palestinians into a business run by the security apparatus through the criminal Ibrahim Al-Arjani. We remember how the Egyptian army stood by at the border, watching the genocide unfold and witnessing Israel violate the peace treaty by occupying the Salah al-Din (Philadelphi) Corridor. We also remember how the Egyptian regime stayed silent when Zionist bullets killed its soldiers and how its security forces suppressed peaceful solidarity protests in Gaza, arresting hundreds.
In the face of the latest Israeli escalation, the Egyptian regime has decided to increase its imports of Israeli gas by 20% starting this October. It’s as though they are marking the first anniversary of the war by tightening their business ties with Tel Aviv, buying stolen Palestinian gas—gas tainted with the blood and remains of martyrs from Palestine and Lebanon. This is yet another stark example of the regime’s failure to manage the country’s resources, leaving us dependent on the Zionists to power our homes.
At the same time, the newspapers are filled with statements from the Egyptian presidency and foreign ministry, warning of the risk of a “regional war.” What world are these officials living in? The regional war is already happening: the U.S. Navy and Israeli air force are bombing Yemen, Israel is bombing Lebanon, Syria, and Iran, and military operations have reached Iraq. If this isn’t a regional war, what should we call it?
The Revolutionary Socialists stand in solidarity with all factions of the resistance fighting the Zionist enemy, resisting genocide, and defending our people in Palestine, Lebanon, and Iraq. We stand with the resistance, offering unconditional support—when it wins and through every hardship. We support the resistance despite the constant blows it receives and the destruction caused by the U.S.-Zionist aggression. When did we ever blame the resistance for its defeats or setbacks?
The resistance needs our support now more than ever as it endures the enemy’s attacks. Blaming the resistance for the destruction and assassinations or using minor tactical mistakes—like an occasional breach—as a reason to reject the entire idea of resistance is nothing more than Zionist propaganda spread by those who advocate for submission and back the oppressive regimes in our region, who are nothing but agents of imperialism. The Zionist enemy and its collaborators are responsible for this bloodshed, and we have a score to settle with them until the entire Zionist project is brought down. The resistance fights under the most challenging conditions, and our criticisms should focus only on addressing mistakes during military battles—so that we can strengthen our ranks and show our continued support for the resistance. This resistance, which stands against the imperialist project and its agents in the region, deserves nothing but our respect.
The Revolutionary Socialists call on Egyptian political parties to unite and pressure the regime to release those arrested for standing in solidarity with Palestine, to open the public space for solidarity movements, to close the Zionist embassy in Cairo, and to cut all diplomatic and economic ties with the enemy.
Standing with the resistance, now more than ever.
