February 17, 2018We stand in solidarity with “Strong Egypt” against closures, arrests, and abductions. Uniting the ranks of revolutionaries is the key to confronting the counter-revolutionary regime

Statement by the Revolutionary Socialists
The relentless campaign against the Strong Egypt Party continues. Following the arrest of the party’s Vice President, Mohamed Al-Qassas, and its President, Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh, today, authorities from the Qasr Al-Nil Police Station seized the party’s headquarters in Garden City, highlighting the regime’s precise targeting of the party and its members.
The Revolutionary Socialists Movement views this attack on the Strong Egypt Party as part of a broader, systematic effort by the counter-revolutionary regime to eliminate any form of opposition. This assault is just one step in a more extensive campaign that will inevitably extend to all opposition forces, even those who believed they were safe from the regime’s repression.
Since the election period began, the state has shown no hesitation in shutting down political activities and silencing all voices of dissent, whether they stem from revolutionary movements or even those aligned with the state.
The Revolutionary Socialists Movement urges all political parties, movements, and entities to persist in their campaign to boycott the elections, a strategy that will expose the regime’s policies. It also calls on all opposition forces to stand united against the regime’s actions, recognizing that the attack on the Strong Egypt Party is an attack on all political forces. Solidarity with the party should include organizing conferences to declare a unified stance, opening the doors of all political party headquarters to Strong Egypt Party members, and refusing to cooperate with any regime actions against the party. Any situation created by the regime’s coercive intervention or through its agents should be deemed illegitimate and boycotted entirely while rejecting any attempts by the regime to use the war on terrorism as a pretext for blackmail.
The Revolutionary Socialists Movement emphasizes that these events are neither the first nor the last as long as revolutionary forces remain divided in the face of this aggressive crackdown on any political activity that doesn’t align with the state’s agenda. We must recognize that the closure of an official party and the arrest of its president and vice president mark a new escalation in the state’s violations against all those engaged in politics in Egypt. Moreover, this is a blatant violation of the most basic principles of freedom and democracy, and if it goes unchecked, no one will be safe in the future.
