Against All Forms of Normalization with the Zionist Regime

Statement by the Revolutionary Socialists

Following the 2005 natural gas agreement under Mubarak, which plundered Egypt’s gas resources by exporting it to the Zionist regime at huge losses—selling it for nearly half the production cost—Egypt is now, under the rule of Sisi and with his government’s approval, once again importing gas from the Zionist regime. This comes under another disgraceful agreement, signed just yesterday, Monday, which commits Egypt to importing $15 billion worth of gas over the next ten years.

This deal marks yet another step in the growing alliance between Egypt’s dictatorship and the Zionist regime, and it seems unlikely to be the last as long as this regime remains in power. The Prime Minister of the Zionist regime praised the deal, calling it “historic” and considering it a “holiday,” claiming that it “strengthens security, the economy, and regional relations.”

Sisi, for his part, never misses a chance to emphasize his commitment to the interests and security of the Zionist regime, from upholding joint agreements without question, especially the disgraceful Camp David Accords, to urging Palestinians to “peacefully coexist with Israelis” as he puts it, and constantly stressing the importance of “ensuring the security and safety of the Israeli citizen,” to normalizing relations in all fields, culminating in joint military coordination that allows the Zionist regime’s aircraft to carry out airstrikes in Sinai with Sisi’s approval.

The Zionist regime has never felt more stable and secure in its interests than it has since the counter-revolution triumphed in Egypt and the Arab region, which has safeguarded its interests and fostered “warmer relations,” as the military dictator himself once said. In contrast, the Zionist regime has never been more fearful and anxious than when the Arab revolutions, particularly the Egyptian revolution, erupted, threatening the client regimes that have long protected its security.

The Revolutionary Socialists movement considers this agreement yet another betrayal by the Egyptian regime, serving the interests of the Zionist regime. It unequivocally rejects such contracts and all forms of normalization with the Zionist regime, which plunders Egypt’s resources, entrenches peace with Zionism, erases the Palestinian cause, and serves as a strategic pillar for the military dictatorship that rules Egypt through tyranny, murder, arrests, and impoverishment
