The Revolutionary Socialists movement reaffirms its previous support for Khaled Ali in the upcoming presidential elections. We are fully committed to Khaled Ali’s campaign at every stage, as long as the campaign continues, unless new developments force us to reconsider.

While we stand behind Khaled Ali in this election, it’s important to clarify that our decision to participate isn’t a bet on an election orchestrated by security forces that persecute candidates and their supporters, mobilizing all state resources to back the dictator in a staged charade under the imposition of a state of emergency, suppressing any opposition. Our involvement in Khaled Ali’s campaign is simply a method of resisting the tyranny, repression, and impoverishment imposed by the counter-revolutionary regime led by Sisi.

We are fighting against austerity policies that have driven millions of working-class and middle-class citizens into poverty, against oppressive policies that send people to the gallows after sham trials that lack basic principles of justice, and against authoritarian policies that have eradicated all forms of freedom, silencing any voice of dissent. Moreover, we oppose the policies of betrayal, which have not only fully aligned with the Zionist project but also relinquished Egyptian land to the Saudi Crown Prince’s ambitions. Our participation in this election is a continuation of our fight against all these policies, providing an opportunity for those who oppose these policies to express their dissent by working within the campaign, supporting it, or even signing a power of attorney at the notary public as a form of protest.

Engaging in the election as a form of resistance doesn’t mean abandoning other forms of resistance. On the contrary, our participation is an effort to bolster all kinds of resistance and protests, to build a strong and effective opposition that can meet the people’s aspirations and offer alternative policies. We see this election as part of the broader resistance, a chance for like-minded forces to unite and create a platform for those who want to voice their rejection of the oppressive and impoverishing regime.
As the Revolutionary Socialists movement commits to participating in the presidential elections as a tool for struggle and resistance, we respect all forms of struggle against the counter-revolutionary policies, even if we differ in our approach, as long as the people’s interests are at the forefront. We believe that all avenues of popular struggle against the counter-revolution must ultimately converge on “Bread, Freedom, and Social Justice.”
