February 6, 2015We Will Not Participate in the Elections of the Parliament of Tyranny

Statement by the Revolutionary Socialists
Day after day, it becomes increasingly evident that Sisi’s regime—hostile to the revolution and to the people’s demands for bread, freedom, and social justice—is using the upcoming parliamentary elections to entrench tyranny and craft a parliament loyal to the dictator and hostile to the people, thereby completing the farcical roadmap of the counter-revolution. The regime insists on maintaining the electoral law rejected by the majority of political entities, including those that allied with it after June 30. Additionally, by marginalizing political parties and increasing the share of seats allocated to individual candidates to 80% of the total, the regime ensures the dominance of political money, tribal loyalties, and influential families, aiming to fragment the parliament and block any chance for opposition forces or grassroots leaders who resist the fierce onslaught against the labor movement from gaining representation.
The regime also refuses to abolish or even amend the protest ban law, which is being used to throw thousands of dissidents into prisons, continuing to wield it as a weapon to crush anyone who dares to campaign in opposition to the regime during the elections.
Furthermore, it seeks to enact yet another disgraceful law, labeling all revolutionary movements as terrorist organizations—a new weapon to be used against opponents.
It shields the Interior Ministry and its minister, under whose tenure Egypt has witnessed an unprecedented surge in terrorism, lawlessness, and authoritarianism—starting from protecting murderers caught on camera committing their crimes, as in the case of the murder of our comrade Shaimaa, to protecting those who kill bedridden patients under the pretext that they provoked the feelings of their police executioners.
As for the so-called independent judiciary, which is supposed to be the primary guarantor of fair elections, it has been transformed into a judiciary that serves the regime exclusively—issuing acquittals to Mubarak, his cronies, and police officers, while handing out mass death sentences and life imprisonments to hundreds of dissidents. It receives orders for verdicts over the phone from the president’s office and the Interior Ministry.
Completing the scene are the regime’s media mouthpieces—spreading lies, glorifying the dictator, calling for more killings and repression without mercy against all opponents, and shamelessly demanding that the dictator be granted a new mandate after the previous one has been exhausted, so he can slaughter thousands more.
In a regime that kills thousands in cold blood and imprisons tens of thousands without fair trials, participating in elections becomes an exercise in futility.
We, the Revolutionary Socialists, call upon all revolutionary forces to build the broadest possible front of opposition against the tyrannical regime. This begins by launching a positive boycott campaign, through which we urge citizens in neighborhoods, factories, and universities to refuse to take part in this farcical play. We will expose the lies and failures of the “kofta regime”—a regime that marginalizes, criminalizes, and targets anyone who opposes it with murder and imprisonment. We also call for mobilizing the masses around democratic and social demands that aim to break tyranny, confront the savagery of capital, oppose rising prices, subsidy cuts, and the privatization of public services.
Additionally, we call on the youth and grassroots of the Democratic Current parties to pressure their leaderships to uphold the positions they previously announced: not to participate in the elections until the Interior Minister is dismissed, the ministry is purged and restructured as a civilian institution responsible for maintaining public order, and the murderer of our comrade Shaimaa is prosecuted—paving the way for the prosecution of all murderers.
Glory to the martyrs… Shame on the killers.
